Film actor Sanjay Dutt has been sentenced to 5 years in jail by the Supreme Court for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts that killed 257 people. He has one month (four-weeks) to surrender.

The SC says that the circumstances and nature of offence was so serious that Dutt cannot be released on probation. It added that evidence and materials perused by TADA court in arriving at the decision against Dutt was correct.Meanwhile his lawyer Satish Maneshinde said that Sanjay Dutt is a strong man and will fight for himself. He added that right from the first day Sanjay Dutt had said that whatever be the judgement he will respect and abide by them

Having already spent 18 months behind bars during the trial, Dutt will have to serve out the remaining 3 and half years. The Bollywood actor was first arrested on on 19 April 1993 under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA). He spent 16 months in jail until he was granted bail in October 1995 by the Supreme Court of India.

He was later re-arrested in December 1995 and re-released in April 1997 once again on police bail terms. Dutt convicted in November 2006 under the Arms Act for illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and an AK-56 rifle, but was acquitted of more serious charges of criminal conspiracy under the now defunct anti-terror TADA.

In recent years Dutt's life had taken a positive-turn, both professionally and personally. While the Munnabhai movies and Agneepath won him tremendous acclaim, the actor was blessed with twins after his marriage to Manayata. This verdict surely comes a serious blow to the actor, his family and the film industry. The in demand actor  has at least five big budget unfinished films in the pipeline right now.

The Mumbai bombings trial has dragged on for 18 years. Dutt maintains he knew nothing about the bomb plot and that he asked for the guns to protect his family after receiving threats during sectarian riots in Mumbai.

Earlier the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence of Yakub Memon in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case saying that he was the biggest accused in the case.He is Tiger Memon's brother. Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon and his brother Ayub Memon were alleged to be the main conspirators of the blasts and they were declared as proclaimed offenders. SC said that Yakub Memon,Tiger Memon and others were archers and rest accused were arrows, doing as they were directed.

Meanwhile, the court reduced the death sentence of ten others to life term and upheld the life sentence of 16 out of 18 convicts.100 people were convicted out of which 12 were awarded death penalty and 20 were given life sentence by aTADA court in the case.

1.AIYYAA

Let's keep the film's BO report aside, as we are talking about this Bong babe's bombshell avatars here, irrespective of the film's fate. Two song sequences in Aiyyaa are sensationally stunning, presenting our lovely Rani's sensual side as never before. Dreamum Wakeuppam and Aga Bai are class apart, really! While the former one is a gingery treat with Rani as one voluptuous woman making men drool all over her sensational moves, the latter song exhibits a steamier Rani who hooks and hypnotizes us with her sensual belly-dancing gyrations. Both the numbers are a marvel to behold, thanks to Rani's utmost dedication towards setting the screens afire!

Aiyyaa

2.DIL BOLE HADIPPA!

Though this comedy was colorless to the core and fell flat on its face at the ticket-windows, courtesy a wishy-washy script, the only breather for film-buffs was Rani's tantalizing moves to the Hadippa track. As an utterly desirable temptress, the Bong beauty emerged as a clear personification of sensuality in the racy number. She looked ravishing in those flirtatious bikini-tops. Rani had never epitomized a hotter screen-siren before this fiery, stirring act, which simply charmed the pants off her fans.

Dil Bole Hadippa!

3.HUM TUM

Rani defined awesomeness in most parts of the first half as a bubbly, mischievous girl. While it were the later reels that saw her as a serious and gloomy woman. But what swept us off our feet was the passionate title track that had moments of warmth and sizzle aplenty. Rani's amorous outing with Saif Ali Khan in this song created uncontrollable waves when the film released. The two interspersed many intimate moments throughout the zealous number, ending up locking lips!

Hum Tum

4.KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI

Rani Mukerji got the first crack at looking hot on the screens with Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Coming across as a nice bit of fluff, the actress stormed the nation in those skimpy outfits. Though SRK and Kajol took pride in lapping the main leads, it was the temptingly glamorous Rani as the college hottie who walked away with the meatiest role in the film. Her seductive husky voice added to her hotness quotient and made the movie-watching experience a pleasure to the nth degree.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

5.NO ONE KILLED JESSICA

Yes, she was all covered throughout the film, and her lofty presence in this political crime thriller should be rather written about in a piece that talks about her most powerful performances. But I'm including Rani's No One Killed Jessica here, plainly to underscore the equally riveting side of her screen-persona – her portrayal of a bold, no-nonsense, sharp-tongued journalist who unabashedly used foul language and convinced us for doing that simultaneously. She was one bombshell in the film, who lent many saucy colors to it, merely with her firebrand presence. Also, I loved her in the scene wherein she told her boyfriend to "help yourself" when she got a work-call in the middle of the 'act'.

A collection of 100 ceramic pieces made by Pablo Picasso were auctioned Tuesday in London for a total of 1.4 million pounds ($2.2 million), almost three times more than the maximum estimated price.

Plat Poisson by Pablo Picasso

Among the pieces that brought the highest bids at Sotheby's was 'Vase Gros oiseau Vert', a vase standing 57.5 centimeters high, half bird and half faun, reflecting the motifs that inspired the Spanish artist at the time of its creation. The vase, which had a maximum estimated price of $53,000, sold for $157,732.

"The majority of the pieces offered achieved values above their maximum estimated prices," a spokesman for Sotheby's told EFE emphasizing the "great success" of the auction. Also sparking interest was "Vase Azteque aux quatre visages", a vase with a decorated handle and an Aztec face, which went for $139,620.

"Hibou Brillant", a decorated plate of an owl, exceeded its maximum estimated auction price of $10,500 and brought $94,388.

Picasso discovered his passion for ceramic sculpture when in 1946, at age 64, he became acquainted - by chance - with the owners of the Madoura house of ceramics in the southern French town of Vallauris.

In creating thousands of pieces over the following decades, the artist explored new creative techniques combining painting, sketching, engraving and sculpture. (From Indiatimes)

Remember that whole cry me a river thing between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez?

Well, I think we now have a little clarity on who was actually turning on the water works. Selena paid a visit to The Late Show with David Letterman Monday and opened up for the first time about her split from Justin Bieber. As charming as always, Dave delicately approached the subject of her relationship status with Biebs and turns out, he wasn't the one getting the laughs this time. Wait until you see what happened!

Race 2
The Delhi High Court Wednesday expressed displeasure over Race 2 following a petition that it showed nudity and vulgarity.

"Please think where the film industry is going. You are teaching indiscipline to children," a division bench of Chief Justice D. Murugesan and Justice V.K. Jain said.

They were hearing a PIL alleging that the film was vulgar and showed nude scenes. It sought a ban on the movie.

The court's observation came after the counsel appearing for the producers and director of Race 2 said the Central Film Certification Board (CBFC) had already cleared its release.

The court sought response from the ministry of information and broadcasting, CBFC and Delhi government and posted the matter for Friday.

The petition was filed by social worker Teena Sharma.

The court had earlier directed the central government to consider the plea against Race 2 and take appropriate action within a fortnight.

Sharma moved the court again after the government failed to act.

She said she was deeply hurt by the nude scenes and dialogues with double meaning after viewing the film in a theatre.

Challenging the UA certification given to the film, the plea said: "The film has been screened in 50 countries and it has been graded as an adult movie in 40 countries while here it had been granted U/A certification.

"The contents of the film are highly objectionable and therefore the film has got A certification for screening in the US and Britain."

The petition accused the movie of degrading women and displaying them as commodities.

UA certification is given to films, which children above 12 years are allowed to see under parental guidance. From Indiatimes)

For 26-year-old Arvind Kamble, the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch was an epoch-making event. “We tech enthusiasts were waiting impatiently for this launch. Though I think that the Broadway style launch was unnecessary, but I am happy that a good phone is here finally. I am going to buy the moment it arrives in the Indian market,” quipped the Music Production Manager.  But when asked how much would it cost, Kamble’s anticipation turned into a reasonable rant.  “It would be somewhere around Rs.45, 000 as its Samsung’s answer to iPhone 5. I know it is insanely priced, but good things don’t come cheap,” he said.

Samsung Galaxy S4
Good things don’t come cheap? Think about the good old Nokia 3310. Agreed, it was not a smartphone, but its durability was indubitable. Also, it did not cost an arm and a leg. Kingshuk Mukherjee, a marathoner who uses a modest Samsung CDMA thinks that spending a huge amount on a smartphone is unnecessary. “The purpose of phone is to connect with people and that can be done via a humble CDMA phone too. Also for a marathoner like me, a smartphone is too delicate to handle,” he said.

Today the trend is to succumb to Apple juggernaut which forces you to spend on the different versions of iPhones, latest being the iPhone 5. iPhone has a passionate fan base that would continue buying various versions of the phone without showing a sign of monotony.  Latest add to the fanboy list is of Senior Copy Editor of a financial portal, Sagar Salvi. “iPhone 5 is one of the few accessories on a person which makes others take a note of him,” said Salvi. When asked if it was a superfluous purchase, he said, “I think I could have saved 10-15k, but I wanted to go for the best.”

Nokia
But even in this smartphone consumer frenzy market, there are few who still swear by their old Nokia phones. 52-year-old Ajit Parkar, an Office Superintendent at Railways still uses a Nokia 1208 model. “It’s not that I cannot afford an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy phone, I find it unnecessary spending on it. Though I got one for my daughter, but for me, I am loyal to Nokia,” Parkar told us. 23-year-old Neha Pinto who recently got her first smartphone, hates phones which cost over 10K. “I got a smartphone which has all the required specifications and is under 10K. I don’t think one should pay so much for a phone, unless it teleports you to your favourite destination,” said Pinto.

Before letting a smartphone burn a huge hole into your pocket, you need to answer introspective questions like, 'Do I really need that expensive phone?', 'Am I buying it because my boss/friend/colleague has it?’ ‘What else can I buy in that amount?’ Be a smart consumer who never follows herd mentality.
